About Our Founder

VJ Stanley played three sports in high school and won the school’s first ever Leadership Award. He played soccer, hockey, and baseball and did not play freshmen or J.V. in any of those sports. VJ won the high school hockey league scoring title as a junior and was a First All-Star Selection. In his senior year, his team was lacking defensemen so he volunteered to switch to defense and played the whole game, every game, and received Second All-Star Honors. VJ played junior hockey for the Rochester Monarchs. He led the team in scoring, was second in the league in scoring, was the captain, and a Second team All-Star Selection in the league. He was recruited by many colleges. He went on to play hockey at Clarkson University where he sustained two concussions in one week (his 7th and 8th) which ended his career after only one game.

VJ is the youngest high school hockey coach in Monroe County high school hockey history starting his coaching career at twenty-three years of age. His teams set thirteen records at Fairport High School. VJ was a consultant for the Aquinas Institute hockey team during their Section V championship season. He was also a consultant for the Greece Hockey team who won their first hockey State Championship, ever. He was the head hockey coach at the University of Rochester for twenty-one years and graduated twenty-eight doctors and lawyers and twenty-four engineers. He has also coached youth sports for fifteen years. VJ also was a volunteer coach for two years with inner city children learning to play hockey. He also started the first ever modified program of any kind at Siena Catholic Academy. The baseball program he started still flourishes today along with other boys’ and girls’ modified programs.

VJ’s presentations examine the youth sports journey to give all who participate in youth sports as many facts as possible in order to make a choice about their future participation. VJ’s belief in balanced excellence is the foundation from which all aspects of life can be influenced in a positive direction.
